St. Jude

Circa 1370
Stained Glass
Cathedral of St. Peter, Regensburg, Germany
(Panel from the left window in the 4th south bay)

This is the only portrait in the windows of the 4th south bay that uses an attribute to identify the saint. St. Jude grasps a large cudgel with his left hand. As in a number of portraits of this saint, the cudgel is significantly broader at one end.

View the entire window in full resolution (space between windows 2 and 3 cropped out).
